How the paper is set
What the theory paper is worth, section by section.
| Section | Question type | Pattern | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Section A | MCQs | 12 × 1 | 12 |
| Section B | SRQs | 10 × 3 | 30 |
| Section C | ERQs | 3 × 6 | 18 |
| Theory total | 60 | ||
Marks align with the latest FBISE Assessment Framework (Grade-X) under the Inclusive Scheme of Studies 2024 (20% MCQs / 80% Descriptive) for the 2026-27 session.

Start here
Study these chapters first.
Four chapters carry 64.8% of the theory paper — Ch 3 Stoichiometry, Ch 7 Nitrogen, Sulphur and Metals, Ch 4 Electrochemistry, Ch 9 Hydrocarbons. Master these first.
The next four — Ch 12 Polymers, Ch 5 Reaction Kinetics, Ch 6 Salts, Ch 10 Hydroxy Compounds — add 25.0%, taking the running total to 89.8%.
The remaining chapters share the last 10.2%. LAST here does not mean skip — every one of them can set MCQs and short questions.
